My transmission went on my car and I have been fighting with the transmission shop every day for almost 2 weeks. I have been stuck in this house and I am going absolutely berserk!!! I am hoping to have it back today but am not counting on it. I am missing all of my cottage time with the Grandkids. sniff My 12 year old Grandaughter, Correy, is riding in the county fair tomorrow and I think I will miss it. She is going to be so disappointed and I am just heartbroken. Also...I am throwing a baby shower for my daughter Jamie on Sunday. I have been working on all the stuff and that is taking up pretty much all of my time. I made a really cute baby sock bouquet and diaper cake for centerpieces. Terri when I thought about your friend I decided not to order. I was afraid that shipping it across the country might damage it so I decided to try to make one myself. It turned out so darn cute. I have no intentions of ever working again. LOL Just found out that Jamie won't be at her own shower. She started spotting a couple of weeks ago and the doctor does not want her 4 hours away from the hospital. She called me crying this morning. I told her that she has to do what's best for the baby. Now I am trying to figure out how to handle this. Some ideas dress her husband Jason up like a pregnant women and make him stand in. (he would probably do it but doesn't want to be that far away from Jamie) dress up one of her sisters as a pregnant women and make her stand in. See if we can set up a webcam so she can watch it from home. (don't know how to do this but I think it can be done). Anyone have any suggestions? Kathleen Merchandising Southeastern Michigan

Don't think I have enough time to plan that out. But on a good note, I got my car back tonight and am leaving about 6 tomorrow morning to watch Correy ride. Jamie also lives in the same area so I can see her too. Then back here first thing Friday morning to help the Veterans with a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday and finish up the last minute stuff for the shower. I think using web cams would be a good idea, do you both have one? If so, get someone to stand in for her, and have her "there" via webcam. The next best thing, given the situation.....

I think the web cam idea is great if you both have one. If not, how about a camcorder? Tape the whole baby shower, and send her the tape to add to her 'baby memory box'. I've thought about doing that as a part time thing when I actually have time but like you, the shipping thing would seem to be a problem, causing things to shift. As for the baby shower, when I was in Miami and my dh's family was in NY, they threw a baby shower and took a TON of pictures. None of the gifts got opened but then they took a TON of pictures when my in-laws came to Miami. Actually what they did was bring it unwrapped, show it off, take a picture, and then wrap it. I'd say you could/should film it. That might help. Truth is, it REALLY sucked not being there. What about a webcam? Do you both have access to a web cam? She could watch from her place and people could say something about their gift, show the guests but not the guest of honor, then wrap it for your daughter to unwrap later. Maybe having a little message about the baby or gift might help her feel better? And of course a nice "care" package of the party food she missed. Maybe a game where she can keep an eye on the guests and catch them doing something they're not supposed to? Or she can do the basket game where she shows everyone (or groups of four or five at a time) a basket of baby items and they write what they remember. Maybe a word game where she describes something and guests have to figure it out? That way she can participate even though she's not there.

I concur with everyone about the webcam solution or even videoing it and sending the video to her. And I feel for you sweetie, as our transmission went out while we were in Mobile, AL and it was the longest three days getting it fixed.
